Erica Romero, President

District 4 – Term Expires November, 2017

Erica has been on the Board since 2011.   Erica is a native of Los Lunas, New Mexico.  She moved to Alamosa in 2001 and is currently employed with Adams State University.   She and her husband have two daughters and one son.  In addition to working full time, she is pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Adams State University.  Her husband, Jason, is a Physical Education teacher at Alamosa Elementary School and coaches Baseball & Wrestling at Alamosa High School.



Arlan Van Ry, Vice President

District 6 – Term Expires November, 2017

Arlan was born in Alamosa and graduated from Alamosa High School in 1986.  He joined the Army and served 3 years with the 3rd Ranger battalion.  Arlan is self-employed with Managed Staffing Agency.  He has two sons in college. He has attended TSJC since returning from the Army.


Mandy Jackson, Treasurer

District 5 – Term Expires November, 2019

Mandy Jackson  grew up in the valley, and graduated from Adams State College. She has four children in the district and is very excited to be serving on the Alamosa School District Board of Education.


Jan De Sautell, Assistant Secretary

District 2 – Term Expires November, 2019

Jan is a Valley native, growing up in the Carmel area. She graduated from Alamosa High School and earned her BA and MA in education at Adams State. She has 32 years experience in education, teaching Kindergarten, 2nd and 3rd grades, the last 11 in the Alamosa School District.  She currently works with the Adams Rural Teaching Fellowship through ASU working with students going into teaching.  She is married to Ron and has 2 children and 5 grandchildren.



Charlie Sanchez, Assistant Treasurer

District 1 – Term Expires November, 2017

Charlie is a native of Alamosa, graduating from Alamosa High School in 1992.  His wife works as a school teacher within the district, and the oldest of his two children currently attends Alamosa Elementary School.  Charlie works for Energy Resource Center as the Program Manager for the Weatherization Assistance Program of the San Luis Valley.


Christine Haslett, Secretary

District 7 – Term Expires November, 2019

Christine is married to Tim Haslett.  She has 2 children and 8 grandchildren.  Christine has been employed for numerous years at the Alamosa School District and has served on several educational committees.  Christine desires to continue her involvement and interests in education and to give back to the community.
